Should be UVA and UVB. Read the labels, and use at least SPF 15 up to SPF 30 if you are very fair or freckle easily.
i would say that the least sppf you should use is an SPF of 5. it protects you skin, but not for a long amount of time.
There are different types of skin protection available in different SPF's. But if your wake boarding you should wear an SPF that is not only 40 but that is also water proof.
It is proven that people with light skins, are best protected when using a SPF 50 sunscreen and upwards. Sunscreen has SPF ranging from 8, all the way up to 70. Depending on your skin tone, it is better to be too careful by protecting with a high number SPF.

There are many products on the market that work. Regardless of what you use, you should look for the lotion that offers both UVA and UVB protection. The higher the SPF, the better. (I use Coppertone Sport SPF 100+. Coupons are available at coppertone.com.)
The best sun block I not going out in the sun at all. But if you have to, use baby sun block. It's stupid, yes, but it has a higher SPF which means it blocks out more of the suns rays.

They recommend about 30 SPF of Higher. But it also depends on how fair skinned you are, and how thin your skin is. The lighter the skin, the higher the number. Also, re-apply it every 2- 3 hours while out in the sun.
