tadpole to frogThis is called metamorphosis.

You all just need to get a lyffe! joke! i love science!

The term 'Maturation' should also apply.

I think also that there is another term...
When a tadpole turns into a frog, we call it metamorphosis, or the process of transformation from an immature amphibian form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages.

When a tadpole is mostly a frog ( a frog with four legs and a tail) it is called a froglet.

I have also heard a tadpole that is part frog ( a tadpole with the beginnings of legs or two legs and a tail) called a polliwog (also spelled pollywog).

What does a tadpole turn into?

The life cycle of the frog begins as a fertilized egg, which then turns into a tadpole. The tadpole grows legs and eventually loses its tail, becoming an adult frog. This process is called metamorphosis, which is any process of transformation, such as that of the immature frog (tadpole) to the adult frog.

What kind of creature does a tadpole turn into?

Grab yourself a dissecting scope; put the tadpole, bellyup, in a dish under the scope. Get a good look inside the tadpoles mouth, and compare it to a species key for frog tadpoles. The number/formation of the teeth will tell you what species of frog your tadpole will turn into.

Which animals breath through their gills when they are young and grow lungs when they grow up?

A tadpole can breath through their gills but they grow lungs as they turn into a frog.

What does a pollywog looks like?

Tadpoles are called that when the frog is first 'born'. Polliwogs are when the frog progresses and grows legs. A tadpole and polliwog is the same thing but in different stages of life.

How long does it take a leopard tadpoles to turn in to a frog?

The time it takes for a leopard frog tadpole to transform into a frog can vary depending on factors like species, environmental conditions, and food availability. Typically, this metamorphosis process takes a few months. The tadpole undergoes various stages of development before transforming into a frog, including the growth of limbs and the absorption of the tail.

What do tadpoles change into?

Tadpoles grow into frogs or toads, depending on the species of the tadpole.

How many weeks does it take for a tadpole to become a frog?

What is metamorphosis in the life cycle of a frog?

They start off in the embryotic stage as embryo inside of eggs. After a while, they hatch and are called tadpoles. Gradually they develop their front/back legs and lungs and can start walking on land. They look a little bit like a frog mixed with a tadpole, called tadpole frog. Finally, they turn into frogs.

When is a frog like fish?

frogspawn turns into tadpoles which eventually turn into frogs.

How long does it take for a tadpole to turn to a frog?

Depends on the species of frog, the country and the size of the body of water. Generally in America, eggs laid in a smaller body of water (a road rut) the eggs will evolve from a creature that has gills and is entirely needful of water to live into one that has no gills and is in need of lesser degrees of water, in about two-three months (green frog, pickeral frog). In a larger body of water--pond--the same species may take another month or more. The above process also depends on the water not becoming too warm or drying up or being polluted. Some species (bullfrog, in a lake ) can remain a tadpole for two years or more. The tiger salamander's tadpole (axolotl) in a lake where it is impossible to leave the water (steep shoreline) may retain its gills and breed. Some (Sumatra Toad) may carry on its metamorphosis within the parent and be born as a "baby" frog.

What two major chages occur when a tadpole chanes into a frog?

Their first change is that they become a child frog, and then it's able to walk on land. Then they turn into an adult frog and it's able to swim and walk on land far from the water....=)

How long does it take for tadpoles to turn into bullfrogs?
