God! Or maybe the Big Bang! Or how about God created the universe through the Big Bang?

As it stands scientifically, it seems as if the Big Bang theory best explains the creation of the universe. Although it is not perfect, and there are some observations the theory does not explain, the Big Bang theory simply explains so much so well that it will take a lot of persuading for scientists to ditch it.

However the Big Bang does not eliminate God. We know the Universe began with the Big Bang but we don't know what caused it. Therefore its reasonable to believe that God caused the Universe to come into existence through the Big Bang.

A fact that many people don't know: The Big Bang Theory was first proposed by a Catholic priest named Georges Lemaitre.

What is a Christians view on the Big Bang?

It depends on how much of an theist they actually are. I don't presume to speak for them, but most Christians believe God created the world and that He or She actually contributed to the Big Bang. I also don't presume to speak for all Christians but the Big Bang is all but proven (ever heard of COBE?). However a common misconception is that the Big Bang explains what caused the Universe to exist. The Big Bang only explains that the Universe was once in an extremely hot and dense state and expanded rapidly. As a Christian I believe the Bible and it says in the beginning God created the Heavens (universe) and the Earth. The Bible doesn't, however, explain how or how long God took. Therefore I believe that God started the universe in motion but I also believe the Big Bang describes very accurately what happened in the beginning with regard to matter.
