Florida has the largest coastline of any east-coast state in the U.S., though the exact number of miles and methods of measurement are greatly varied. However, a great majority of Florida's coastline is actually against the Gulf of Mexico, and not technically the Atlantic Ocean. The state with the largest coastline touching only the Atlantic Ocean would probably be North Carolina. Again, the methods and the measurements thereof vary depending on source.

Because Hawaii is an Island State it has no land boundaries and has 100% coastline. Alaska has much more coatline but is not an Island and therefore has a much smaller percentage of coastline.
