Depending on the state the vehicle is registered in, most DMVs keep this information on file.
no way
i went to the state police and regerster a car i built out of two they gave me a new vin but i did have both titles
You can try Carfax to give you an idea of when and in which state it was last registered in.
No car from the era had a vin#. Prove you own the car and it can then be registered.
if there is no vin or the vin is scratched off it 99% of the time means it is stolen... good luck- i doubt you can get it registered
Well, if you're not a police officer, you can request the information from the DMV but It depends on if it's public record in your state or not.

Most motorcycles are registered by the vin on the frame. I have seen some that were registered by the engine number. The best thing you can do is to go to the Motor Vehicle dept in your area and have them run the VIN to check it the bike is stolen. If you are friends with a Cop, he can also check for you.
www.carfax.com and enter the VIN number then pay
