As of August 2009, it tends to be California at $33/hr, followed roughly by New York at $27/hr. The average elsewhere seems to be around $25/hr.
But if you're looking to relocate to the state which pays the most, you should also to a comparative analysis of the salary in relation to the cost of living and housing in the area. So while Californian RNs might get paid 20% more, the cost of housing might be 200% higher than some states, and the cost of living might be 50% higher. By that relationship, you might be better off taking the lower salary pay in an area that has lower costs of living and housing.
A California RN can only be an RN in California. However, if that same RN was to get registered to be an RN in a different state, they could work there as well.

Most definitely, nurse anesthetists make more money. For one thing, you must be an RN (registered nurse) to be one, and an RN makes more money than an LPN (or practical nurse), as they have to go to school longer. Becoming an anesthetist takes additional training on top of becoming an RN, but it is a much higher paying area of nursing to go into. It is also a very high stress field, though.
The salary of an RN nurse in TN will vary depending on experience and where you choose to work. In an ER RN's average anywhere from $75-$125 per hour.
