The best way to get a friend help who is suffering from depression is to talk to her. Let her know that you are there for her and that you care about her. Suggest she see her family doctor and offer to take her.

If it is in order, encourage and help her to get it and follow through. There is no use in considering children if she suffers the worst that depression has to offer.
