Appalachian soil is very fertile, and agriculture is a good source of income for people living in the Appalachians.
Attention to all people living near the Appalachian Mountains! A creature that has thought to be extinct has been found living near the Appalachian Mountains. It is called a barbazoop. The barbazoop is dangerous so all people have been told to be careful and not to go out hiking alone. Be careful because even scientists wonder was the barbazoop extinct after all.

The Appalachians are a vast range of mountains and hills stretching from New England to Mississippi state in the eastern United States. They are comparatively lower and older than mountains in the western United States. The Appalachian Mountains as well as Appalachian State University, located in Boone NC, are pronounced "App-ah-LATCH-in." Although commonly mispronounced, the people living in and/or around the Appalachian Mountains use the pronounciation above. Correction: According to Walt Wolfram of NCSU (and a native of Philadelphia) it's Appa LATCH ian. So, Southerners ARE commonly pronouncing it correctly.
