An Excel work book is generally called Book1 before it is named. If there are multiple sheets that have not been named, they will be named the next available number, for example one could have and Book1 and Book2.

The default file name for an MS Excel workbook is book1. I suppose because the programmer decided book made sense for a workbook and the 1 represents the first one you save. You can change the file name to whatever you like.
After the launch process has completed you will see a blank worksheet called Book1 on the screen.
