There is a large variety of choices.

You will have to experiment with various strings to find which kind you like best and that sound the best on your Ukulele. Nylon is pretty much the only thing used now, though you can find aluminum wound nylon strings.

Most players really like the Aquila Nylgut strings. I like the feel of them.

I know at least two professionals that prefer D'Addario strings (Jake and Aldrine).

Traditional players using vintage instruments like the Martin strings.

It will also depend on the tuning, I go with the standard G'CEA.
