The epiphysis, commonly known as the growth plate, is the site of long-bone growth in a child or young adult. If a growing person has a fracture at this site, growth of bone length may be affected on that side, creating uneven limb length.

metaphysis
It's actually called "OSGOOD SLAUGHTER DISEASE" . It happens to young people usually during growth spurts. Essentially it is a pulling away or tearing away of the Tibular Tuberosity, the attachment site for the quadriceps, and it usually happens because the individuals growth rate is so fast that the bone length development doesn't keep up, therefore you get excessive tension on the attachment site (the patella tendon) and it starts to pull away.
Temporal Bone
bone marrow
Bone marrow.
The temporal bone is the site of jugular foramen and the carotid canal.
I would need the height of the nine year old in order to accurately answer this question. You can also track a child's growth via a growth chart by going to the following web site: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/growthcharts/set1clinical/cj41l024.pdf Keep in mind that these figures are *averages* and that everyone will be different depending on what kind of bone structure and metabolism they inherit from their family.
The metaphysis is the wide portion of the neck of a long bone between the head or end and the main shaft called the diaphysis. It is considered to be a part of the growth plate, the part of the bone that grows during childhood and as it grows, it hardens or ossifies. The femur is usually the one people talk about because it is the thigh bone that meets and forms part of the hip joint. If someone has osteoporosis, it can become weakened and cracked and require a hip replacement.
