Bilbo is surprised the next morning to find that the dwarves have left without him, as they had planned to depart on their journey to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo then decides to catch up with them and embark on the adventure.

The dwarves barged into Bag End as if they were invited (they WERE invited, but NOT by Bilbo); they were loud and drank and ate Bilbo's provisions at will and were rather messy. When Bilbo woke up next morning the sink was full, the kitchen was a mess, and to top it off, the Dwarves wrote a note to Bilbo on his own stationery.

"Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is morning to be good on?" . . . "What a lot of things you do use Good morning for!" said Gandalf. "Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off."
If you are talking about the morning after the party, it was a letter. The dwarves had left a letter with their contract with the burglar there, but Bilbo had not done his normal dusting and missed it.
He walks by his home one morning. Bilbo was out sitting and reading his letters and smoking a pipe. Gandalf introduced himself and they had a chat. Bilbo was very uncomfortable and scurried off, but invited the wizard to tea.

As the eagles rescued Gandalf, Bilbo, and the dwarves, the birds took them first to their aeries in the Misty Mountains to rest for the night. The next morning, the eagles flew the wizard, hobbit, and dwarves to the Carrock, a tall rock outcropping in the eastern foothills of the mountains by a river. The Carrock was named by the skin-changer Beorn, who often used it as a lookout post.
