Certain hormones act upon the liver to release glucogen and it is converted into glucose which then gets circulated into the brain cavity. Asteocytes are attached to this glucose enriched blood and the glucose is then chemically transported to the brain where it is readily required.

Well, first of all, you probably wouldn't want to put straight glucose into your body. Glucose is the highly refined and most simple version of sugar. Your body knows what to do with it but it needs it at a slow even pace, so it likes to make it itself through digestive and metabolic processes. The best are the complex carbohydrates like those found in whole grains.
