margins
Page Layout tab,Page setup section in word, excel 2007/2010
The tab is used to set margins.
You go to page setup and click on margins tab.
In Microsoft Word 2003, it is under File --> Page Setup, and on the Margins tab you can set the regular margins. On the Layout tab, you can set the header and footer margins. In Microsoft Word 2007, it is on the Page Layout tab. There is a Margins dropdown menu.
Usually normal preset, you can find margin presets in Page Layout tab - Page Setup section -> Margins
The best way that I have found is to create a text box with no border in the margin, and type in it. Or are you talking about making comments in the margin? That would be done by using mark-ups.
select page layout tabs & choose "margins".click "custom margins" to open the margins tab then in the small boxes (top, bottom, left, right and gutter)put in the measurment you need.

To change the margins of a document, go to the Page Layout tab in the toolbar, select Margins, and then click on Custom Margins. In the dialog box that opens, you can set the left margin to 2 inches and the right margin to 3 inches. Click OK to apply the changes.
