You should always have some old character. I recommend Kirby. You shouild also have Lucus. Basicly people who can do alot of damage in a short of time because Tabuu has a move that makes your character fly off the screen even if you are at 0%

I beat tabuu in two player with my friend. the characters i had were: donkey kong, pit, meta knight, Kirby, sonic and Pokemon trainer. in single player you only get five or four people but in two player you get six. i put the characters im best at closer to the back so i had an advantage when he was closer to no health. P.S. Tabuu gets stronger when on less health, by that i mean he does that ring thingy that kills more often.

In my opinion, I believe that Ike may be the best character, because even though Lucario (as many say is the best) gets stronger with more damage, you don't necessarily want to take any damage at all, so Lucario starts out weaker, but Ike is strong all the way, and if he is used correctly, is probably the strongest opponent on the battle field (in relation to his speed).
