Most earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movements. The 1994 Northridge Earthquake in Los Angeles, in particular, occurred on the Northridge blind thrust fault, which had previously been unknown.

All of them.

Anywhere there is a plate boundary that moves in opposition to the plate next to it, there can be an earthquake.

Many earthquakes occur within plates -- for example, the mid-Atlantic ridge is made up of many thousands of fault lines.

Many earthquakes we feel are due to the friction within subduction zones, where an oceanic plate subducts (goes under) the craton.

What is plate tectonics theory?

Tectonics is the theory that the earth's surface is split into plates that float on the surface of semi-molten rock known as the mantle layer. For instance, as the plates are on the move, (albeit, extremely slowly) the India Plate colliding (converging) with the Asian Plate resulted in the formation (upthrust) of the Himalayas.

How many deaths are there in an average earthquake?

it varies on how power the earthquake is and how the environment where the earthquake happened is. if the earthquake is powerful and the environment is strongly built the average kill will be very less compared to a strong earthquake and an environment which is not built strong enough.

Why is the Mediterranean-Asian Belt an earthquake zone?

An earthquake is described as being when a faulting occurs meaning sudden lateral or vertical movement along a rupture or break. so earthquakes occur wherever there is a fault or sudden movement of the earth plates. (plates move slowly)
