Blitzkrieg
FUR DIE FUHRE
No, not really. In the immediate short term, Germany did acquire the western half of Poland. This was a beginning on Hitler's grand plan to grab territory to the east for "living room" in which Germany could expand. But in the long term invading Poland started WWII in Europe, as France and Britain declared war on Germany for invading Poland. Germany was able to defeat France, but never the British, and just under six years later Germany was in ruins, millions dead, the country divided for the next forty-five years and occupied by its enemies. And all those disastrous results flowed from the beginning, when Hitler invaded Poland.

A lightning rod (or lightning protector) is a metal strip or rod, usually of copper or similar conductive material, used as part of lightning safety to protect tall or isolated structures (such as the roof of a building or the mast of a vessel) from lightning damage. Its formal name is lightning finial or air terminal. Sometimes, the system is informally referred to as a lightning conductor, lightning arrester, or lightning discharger; however, these terms actually refer to lightning protection systems in general or specific components within them. The term 'lightning rod' is also used as a metaphorical term to describe those who attract controversy.
