Even though the Cherokee Rose was not native to the area, it certainly grew well in its new homeland like other settlers did. It is tenacious, proud and quietly pretty. It doesn't provide food for anything, but it is a pleasant choice for the State Flower.

I know that the Cherokee's were removed from their homeland, and forced into make-shift forts, where most of the 4000 deaths accurred due to lack of food and the cold, but what was the trail really like??? I want to know how the people did it, how they felt, and why the removal was done even though the Cherokee's went to the supreme court and got the treaty signed saying that they didnt have to move. What made Van Buren take away their rights anyway???
