Yes. As owner of the 1st generation, I have never came across an app that doesn't work on 1st generation iPod Touches. However some features within the apps may not work such as microphone input or bluetooth connectivity. This requires a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod Touch.

Well it all depends on what ipod you have/get. All 3rd generation ipods excluding ipod shuffle will be able to store videos on them and be able to watch them. On the 2nd and 1st generation you cannot watch them but you are still not able to store them on the ipod either.
