Well adapted to aquatic life with its webbed hind feet & waterproof coat, the Water-rat can be identified by its large size & long, furred tail with a white tip. It also grows to 1275 grams.

The Sewer or Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) doesn't like the water at all, doesn't have water proof fur, have short dense coat, virtually no fur on their tails & only grows to 500g max.
