When piercing the tongue, the risks can be hitting a rather large blood vessel and bleeding out.
However an experienced piercer would check the bottom of your tongue to see if there are any major veins before positioning the piercing.
Also if you have a relatively small tongue, once it is pierced, the jewelry can irritate the frenum and gums.
Serious infections in the tongue can be life threatening. Seek medical attention at once. Toxic shock syndrome is not a joking matter and can come on quickly with infected piercings that are left untreated.
it gets infected, and your tongue falls off.. no, im totally joking.
but it will get infected, and you might get bad breath because
of the infection.
There are several infections you can get, and unfortunately an infection in your tongue can result in speech impairments and eating problems for the rest of your life. There are many bacteria already in your mouth, and by inserting a piercing through the tongue you can drive any of them into your tongue muscle. Also, you could get infected with hepatitis or HIV if the needle isn't clean. Finally, there is some concern about Clostridium infections and Mycobacterium infections.
The WORST is that you will have to surgically remove your lip, or part of it if you are lucky, to stop the infection from spreading.
its a sexual thing
It could actually be normal discharge and not pus. Since I can't see the piercing, the best thing for you to do is to go back to your piercer :)
There is no such thing as "a little infected". It's one or the other but not a little. You need to be on a routine of good oral hygiene and not a little here a little there. If you are getting discharge from the piercing and it's greenish and the tongue is swelling and sore get your butt into the hospital or clinic right now. MRSA is a very hard to fight bacterial infection that can be deadly if left untreated. You don't goof with piercings and piercing health. See your Doctor if you think you have an infection in your tongue piercing.
tongue piercing, its a pretty self explanatory thing but. a tongue piercing is when you go to professional who is certified to do oral piercings legally. Your tongue will have a looped clamp put on it to hold your tongue in place, and a piercing needle will be put through your tongue near the middle and a small tongue bar will be inserted closely following the needle.
The initial piercing is not painful. The only thing felt is the pressure of needle. The clamp on the tongue hurts more than the actual piercing. The healing after is the painful part. The tongue will swell, and the muscle will be sore. As the tongue adjust to the metal and heals itself from the initial tear and swelling, the pain will subside, generally over a few days following the piercing. By experience, a piercing in the upper cartilage hurts more than a piercing in the tongue.
That is the normal discharge that occurs from tongue piercing, just like ear piercing discharges after they have been pierced and are healing the tongue does the same sort of thing. That will disappear is a couple of days, just be sure you are rinsing and keeping cold stuff on the piercing as often as possible.
i have my upper cartilage pierced and mine is not infected or any thing its totally safe
ok, if its hard around the Piercing that's normal, its a callus forming, but if your whole tongue is hard, then I'm not for sure why that is, only thing i can think of is the swelling.
yes!! if the puss is yellow of green then its infected. the best thing to do is put some seasalt on it or go see the doctor.
Food would be a good thing, unlike a tongue piercing you can eat almost anything so long as you rinse after eating and stay on something for swelling.
because god is punishing you for doing a stupid thing. cause I am god. LOL
The best and safest thing to do is to go and get another thread on ball or replacement barbell from any professional body piercing studio, you don't want to screw around with your tongue piercing. Get a replacement ball on as soon as possible.
