How many times do Catholics receive Eucharist?

If they are not in a state of serious sin, Catholics may receive communion every time they assist at Mass for a maximum of twice per day. However, if a Catholic receives communion twice during the day on Saturday and then go to the anticipated Mass on Saturday evening, they may receive a third time since that is considered a Sunday Mass.

When does our Easter holiday begin?

The Easter Season begins at or near the midnight between Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, with the celebration of the first part of the Divine Office (liturgical prayer-cycle) of Easter Sunday. This normally takes place during the celebration of the first Mass of Easter commencing near midnight on the night of Holy Saturday. In various places for various reasons, the first Mass of Easter might be held some time during the earlier evening of Holy Saturday. In the concluding part of the first Mass of Easter, the first part of Easter Divine Office is celebrated and this is (strictly speaking) when the Easter Season begins. Before certain changes in the 1950s, the Easter Vigil was celebrated in the morning hours of Holy Saturday, and the Easter Season commenced when the vigil ceremonies has been completed (that is, in the afternoon of Holy Saturday). Since the 1950s, the rule is that the Lenten fast continues until the midnight between Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Obviously, if people are taking part in the Easter Vigil ceremonies, they will not be eating or drinking (except for taking water or medicines in an emergency), and so the Lenten fast is observed for the entire day, and the Easter Season commences at or near the midnight.

What time does IHM Saturday night mass end?

What time does a roman Catholic go to church?

We're required to go once a week and that has to be either on Sunday or on Saturday afternoon/evening. Mass is offered every day, in most places, so of course we can go more often if we want. There are also Holy Days of Obligation, too, that require us to go to mass, but they don't happen regularly. Christmas is one of these. If Christmas doesn't happen on a Sunday, we go to mass anyway.

What name is give to those preparing to become a Catholic?

They are called Catechumens, that is, persons being catechised, or educated in matters of the faith. Catechumens are usually baptised (and if adults, immediately confirmed) at the Easter Vigil Mass on Easter Saturday Night, for the edification of those present on this joyful ocdcasion, but this may occur at any time, and in either public or private.

Are mass and time relative?

Yes they are; they are not the constants that they were once considered to be.

When do Catholics stop their Lenten promises?

Lent formally ends at l200 Hours ( Noon, local time) on Holy Saturday. All dietary restrictions are OFF.Roman Catholic AnswerLent, in the Church, Latin rite (in other words, most Catholics in the English speaking world) ends immediately before the Mass in the evening of Holy Thursday, which starts the Easter Triduum. As Good Friday and Holy Saturday are both, technically, fast days, most people continue giving up whatever they gave up until the Easter Vigil begins after dark on Saturday night.

What feast days are in triduum?

A Triduum is a period of three days of prayer, either preceding some special feast or preparing for some major enterprise. The Easter Triduum, commemorated the three days that Christ lay in the tomb, actually begins with the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday evening, so Lent ends as that Mass begins, and the Eastern Triduum begins.

What time Mass on Saturday counts in the Roman Catholic Church as a Sunday Mass?

Catholic AnswerDifferent dioceses may have different regulations on when an anticipated Sunday or Holy Day Mass may be celebrated on the day before. It must be late Afternoon or evening, a Saturday Mass celebrated with the weekday (Saturday) readings does NOT count as your Sunday obligation. The important thing is whether the actual Mass being said is the Mass of Sunday or the Holy Day: i.e., it has three readings from the Sunday, the Gloria, Creed, etc. If the Sunday Mass is being celebrated, then it fulfills your obligation. If it is another Mass, say, perhaps a Saturday Mass being celebrated in the afternoon for a wedding, then it would not count for your obligation. If you have a particular question about a particular situation, please ask the priest who will be saying the Mass.

What is a welcoming like in the Catholic Church?

Roman Catholic answerAssuming you are referring to the welcoming of new members. There are two usual "welcomings". Private baptisms are most common for infants, and young people. These are usually held outside of Mass (although the Ritual provides for the ceremony to be held during Mass, as well) at a time convenient to the family and priest. The big formal welcoming is for new members who come into the Church at Easter. They have been attending RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) classes all year, starting in August or September, and then, during the Easter Vigil they are brought forward in front of the whole church, baptised and/or confirmed (as needed). Adults make a profession of faith and belief in God, and His Church, and then all are warmly welcomed by the congregation. There usually follows a reception after the Vigil Mass. The Vigil Mass can not start until full dark on Holy Saturday night and lasts at least two to two and a half hours, it is very beautiful and the closest thing we have to one of the early liturgies of the Church (first couple centuries). It is well worth the time.
