Most old people usually go to bed early and arise early, because they've spent their entire lives doing that. They've gotten so accustomed to doing such, and their brains automatically wake them up at an early time.
Not to mention after a certain age, many older people's bodies are pretty equivalent to that of a babies, meaning, they aren't as strong as a younger person is. There body needs the rest in order to maintain a relatively healthy state.
It depends on what time you get up. An adult should get 6-7 hours of sleep. While children and young adults should get 8-9 hours of sleep. an appropriate time for a child to go to bed would be up to 10:30
No! Older people are often very active, unless they have a chronic illness or are extremely debilitated. Nursing home patients may sleep a lot, for several reasons: (1) debilitating illness or diseases; (2) medications that sedate or induce sleepiness; or (3) plain boredom and monotony. But elderly who live in their own homes are often just as active as a younger person. Older people often nap more than younger persons, but the nap is a quick refresher before a busy evening. Also, many grandparents are raising their grandchildren today; the older person may be old, but they keep up with their grandkids!
