What tires are the best?

There's really no telling, too much of personal opinion mixed in. Might as well ask for the best soda or pop band.

Different tires are good at different things. Some are really grippy, but don't last long. Others give great gas mileage, but corner poorly. One might do good on dirt/gravel, but is really noisy on highways.

Depending on what you think is most important, you'll get a different "best".

Best for what? Long life, performance, grip, rain? Once you know what you want from a tire and how much you are willing to pay for it; it's really easy to narrow your selection. Tire compound, speed rating to mention a few categories is going to affect the performance of a given tire. The lower profile the more expensive it will be and a softer compound will have reduced life. These types of tires have better grip and handling but there is a trade off. Grip, performance vs. longevity. Lower profile tires will ride harsher and transfer vibrations through the steering and suspension that you never felt with factory tall side wall tires.
