Unless you know how to do it yourself you will have to call a farrier (horse shoer). The average horse or pony needs their feet trimmed about every 8 weeks. Warning:If you don't know how you should not try to trim the feet yourself. You could make your horse lame.

If a horses hoof has overgrown, that means it has to be trimmed and shoed by the Farrier. Its good for the horse!

The hoof can be trimmed, but shoeing depends on whether the horse is already shod or not. If they are kept out, most horse's hooves wear down by themselves to a certain extent.
