If your pet died, have a memorial ceremony and bury him. Invite friends for the ceremony, put flowers over his grave, and wish him a good life in heaven and talk about all the good times you had with your pet with all of your friends that come to the ceremony.
And if that doesn't help much, go inside have a big bowl of ice cream and a nice cup of lemonade.
And if that doesn't work, then think of all the good times you had with your pet and cherish their memory forever.
And if that doesn't work, draw pictures of your pet.
And if that doesn't work, then do all the things above, again.
Then if that doesn't work, get a new pet that looks like the same pet that died and name him the same name as the pet that died.

I had a similar problem- a small pet died, but I could not bury the pet due to foot in a cast. I arranged to have the pet wrapped and frozen until I got the cast off. You can also check with your vet- many have cremation services available. And I'm sorry you lost your cat.

It is really up to you, to decide what you want to do. Many people will get another pet, if their pet has died. However, you may or may not want another pet. Think about your experience of owning the pet who died, and decide whether it worked out well enough that you would like to get another pet. As for the pet who died, some people like to bury their dead pets with a full religious ceremony (of the type that you might use for a dead person), but that also is up to you. The body can be disposed of with as much or as little ceremony as you feel is appropriate.
