The safest thing to do when a large wave or tsunami is heading towards a beach is to run as far away as you can.
Do not attempt to swim in the tsunami. If you cannot run, grab onto something solid like a lamp post or a large tree.
If you think that there may be a tsunami brewing, do NOT GO TO THE BEACH, ever.
