First thing is you need to know what is causing the diarrhea. It could be something as serious as Parvo or Salmon Poisoning or something as simple as a little tummy upset from some food he has eater. The best thing is to take your pet in to see your Veterinarian. That way the temperature will be taken and the dog thoroughly examined. Be sure to bring in a small sample of the dog's feces to check for parasites too. The Vet will know best how to treat the dog. I use Pepto Bismo, a small child's dose if I know for sure it is just a tummy upset but better to be safe and know what the cause is, so take your pet in to see your Vet.
It is normally advised not to give your dog food for about 12-24 hours. however, to prevent dehydration, you should give him plenty of clean and fresh water.
You must take him to the vet and find out the cause for the disease and also give the prescribed medicine.
Check out the link attached. It will definitely help.
Diarrhea is the passage of loose, unformed stools. In most cases there is a large volume of stool and an increased number of bowel movements. The two most common causes of diarrhea in dogs are dietary indiscretion and intestinal parasites. Many canine Infectious Diseases are also associated with acute diarrhea.
For a home remedy, you should fast the cat for 24 hours, feeding it only water for that time period. Then, you should introduce bland food for a few days in small quantities. If that doesn't help, you should take your cat to the vet.
If the diarrhea is caused by irritation or inflammation in the GI (gastro-intestinal) tract, give him/her Canine Gastralox.
Nothing by mouth for 24 hours. Let the gut rest. Then start back on ice cubes. If tolerated, then fix him/her boiled rice. If tolerated, then back slowly on dog food.
