it is a mother's job to protect her babies. she is eating the babies that have infections to protect the others. the father does three things. 1. makes the babies 2. helps deliver the babies 3. starts the cycle again almost immediately

I dont know if it is normal but she was always trying to attack the first baby gerbil. I knew this was wrong and sepperated them. But other than my lot I think they raise their babies pretty well. They will stop giving tem milk when they are 4-5 weeks old and them they have to start coping for them selves.
