What to do when you find a dying pigeon?

First of all you need to field dress it.

* Pluck a tiny bit off the breast, till you can see some skin. * Cut this skin * Cut all the way till breast meat is visible

* Cut either side of the breast bone, downwards, then outwards * Do this bit carefully as the are two bits of breast either side

Then prepare a nice dinner. E.g. Pigeon breast with vegetables, roast pigeon, etc. There are plenty of recipes online. One of my favorites are:

NEVER killed a pigeon. However 'years' ago when I moved to my 1st condo..several pigeon built nests in several of my live potted trees on my balcony. At that time...I thought 'how cute' and loved watching them feed their babies. Until months later I saw how dirty they really were. (I was naive and had no idea)

Well...once the babies grew up and FINALLY left the nests, I was SO relieved. UNTIL weeks later I saw they had laid several NEW eggs in these nests.

Frustrated...I removed those eggs and disposed of them in the garage can.

I lived in that condo for over 20 years...and not once after that did ANY pigeons return to MY balcony. Although they were in the neighbors balonys and on the roofs thru-out the complex.

I was so surprised they had such a long memory to not return to my specific place. Never had another problem with them.

Use rubber or latex gloves to pick it up and steer clear of the open wound (if any). To remove glove, slip your pinky finger underneath the bottom of the glove and pull upwards, turning the glove inside-out.
