Cover the holder in something like aluminum foil to prevent the cat from getting at it.
There are a number of online websites where one can purchase a Christmas tree card holder. Some of these websites include Amazon, eBay and Christmas Shop.
It depends what you put in your Christmas tree water and how your stand is built. My 12 year old cat has been drinking Christmas tree water since she was born and is still alive and kicking. However, we have never put anything in the water. This year, because we got our tree so early we bought some tree nutrients and have been adding it to the water. We also got a new tree stand so that the cats can not get into it and drink it as with the years before. I wouldn't want her drinking chemicals....
You must water the Christmas Tree once everyday because it needs a lot of water
Place it in a Christmas tree stand and water it whenever the level of water gets low.
Water trees use the most, look for them at Wal Mart

Yes, you have to water a real Christmas tree or it will dry out, which causes the needles to fall off, and it becomes a fire hazard.
About 2-3 times a week. Your best bet is to check the water level in the holder your tree is sitting in. If your fingers touch water, you're ok. If you feel no water, add about 2 quarts at a time. If that's inaccessable, fill up the holder the first day you have the tree, and every day afterwards add just a cup or two. That should hold you over. I also find that using a spray bottle to keep the leaves wet or at least damp does some good for the tree.
