A fast should be broken with simple, easy to digest foods. Breaking a fast with a heavy meal, meat or junk food can result in vomiting or upset stomach. Good choices include fresh fruit and vegetable juices, broth or miso, bananas and apples. Well cooked grains (especially in the form of soups) can be next. Meat, dairy and processed foods should be added back slowly and in small portions. Fish is a good first meat to try as it is light and not too filling.
