A dog's normal body temperature is much warmer then that of a human. A dog is considered having a fever when his core body temperature is above 103 degree. A dog with a true fever needs medical treatment immediately as this is a serious condition in a dog.

How much Bufferin can you give a dog?

Can you give your pit bull aspirin to reduce a fever?

no!!go to your vet, they will have a solution!!**Correction/Improvement**It is difficult to know whether a dog has a fever or not. A dry nose does not indicate fever. The most accurate indicator of a fever in a dog is the old fashioned thermometer up the rear. However, one dose of aspirin will not harm your dog and may make it more comfortable while waiting for your vet appt.A typical aspirin dose is 5 to 10 mg per pound (10 to 20 mg/kg) twice daily for dogs. Always give with food.

My dog is running a fever of 105. Unable to get to a vet until Monday. I have ampicillin capsules of 0.5g. Would it be safe to give to my 50 pound dog if I can't get her fever down. And what dosage?

NO. Try asking the Vet you have an appointment with if these are safe or if there are any ways of reducing the temperature.

Can dog get a fever when female has 1st period?

It is called being in heat or in season, is when the dog can become pregnant. No there should not be any signs of a fever. The normal temperature in a dog is 101 to 102 degrees. If your dog is running a fever while in heat, I would take her in to be checked out by a Veterinarian.

What is the temperature of a sick dog?

A better question would be what is the temperature of a normal dog. That would be about 101 to 102. Above that would mean that the dog has a fever. Also remember, just because a dog is sick does not mean that the dog would always have a fever.
