Burgers and Hot Dogs are as American as apple pie. Most pies or home made cookies go well with a meal of burgers and hot dogs. Ice cream, either served with the baked goods or alone, is also a good ending to the meal.

In America, hot dogs are considered a summer food, though of course they may be eaten at any time of year. Typical side dishes include potato salad (German or icebox, each of which has a different recipe), macaroni salad, cole slaw, French fries, and/or baked beans, with or without pork. Dessert could be fresh, cold watermelon; ice cream; or fruit salad. At sporting events, nachos are also popular.

That said, feel free to serve any dish you like and feel comfortable making! Summer cooking should be relaxed and simple.
