As a general rule on clothing to wear to any prison:
- Your clothes should be of proper length (no tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, Bermuda shorts, "Short shorts", etc.).
- Your clothes should not be of similar style to inmates clothes (no orange clothes in prisons with orange uniforms or gray clothes in prisons with gray uniforms)
- You should not wear mis-representing clothes (IE: military clothes if you arn't military, doctor/guard/nurse outfits if you are not such)
- Clothes should have limited brand/logos/sayings on them. Prison guards are allowed to not let visitors into the visitor's area if they feel the visitor's clothes will cause a problem. Easiest way to avoid this, wear rather plain-looking clothes.
- Try to avoid wearing hoodies or clothes with large pockets -- you will surely be searched.
- Most prisons do not allow flip-flops or any open toed shoes, so make sure you wear sneakers just to be safe.
- In some prisons, denim is not allowed.-- You may be asked to cover up with clothing provided

How can an inmate transfer from New Jersey State Prison to East Jersey State Prison?
I am in the same situation as you, I found in internet that the inmate o the weekly progress report must tell his classification officer the need for a transfer. After that the officer will present a formal referalto ICT, Institutional Classification team and they will send it finally to SCO the State classification team who decides if its aproved or not. I also read that visiting is not a reason for transfer anymore and that the transfer is approved it does not mean it will take acton right away, there mustbe available beds and space in the new Prison.
