Head gasket repair on a 2002 PT Cruiser requires extensive time, knowledge and tools. The intake manifold, cam shafts, and cylinder heads must be removed.
Do NOT use a helicoil. A good repair shop or machine shop will have the tools to install an insert which becomes a permanent repair. A helicoil will come out when the spark plug is removed and cause further damage to the cylinder head.
No compression could mean a blown head gasket, cracked head or cylinder.
The cylinder head has to be removed and the head gasket replaced. This is not an easy job for the do it your selfer. There are several special tools required and when the engine is apart, there are several areas that have to be checked for exact tolerances and torque settings, otherwise the new head gasket will blow. I would suggest you have a mechanic do the work.
