A VPP Merit site is a workplace in the US, in a state under Federal OSHA jurisdiction, which has a Safety and Health Management Program in place that meets many but not all of the criteria for being named a VPP Star site. The site is designated a Merit site and given time to improve to meet the Star criteria.
A VPP Star site is a work location that has been awarded this distinction for meeting and exceeding work safety guidelines and protocol. VPP are Voluntary Protection Programs established by OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
