The asssination of Germanys Archduke began everything.
I think you are a bit confused. "Appeasement" was not a part of the Versailles Treaty. This refers to the actions (or really lack of actions) taken by the Allied powers when Germany began violating the agreements that ended World War 1.

Say what? I am confused. The war with Japan and the Allied Forces began when the Japanese Military bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. If you are asking about Hiroshima, Japan then I guess I better tell you an atom bomb was dropped on it by the Allied Forces and it was the catalyst for getting the Japanese Emperor to surrender.
After declaring war on Germany in April 1917, America mobilized its military forces, leading to the drafting of soldiers through the Selective Service Act. The U.S. began to send troops to Europe, contributing significantly to the Allied efforts in World War I. Additionally, the government ramped up industrial production to support the war effort, including munitions and supplies for both American and Allied forces. These actions helped to bolster the morale and resources of the Allies, ultimately influencing the outcome of the war.

During World War II, the Battle of Okinawa both began and was fought to its bloody conclusion because of the Allied intent to secure an important base close to Japan's home-islands -- and the Japanese intent to deny the island to the Allies. Securing the island achieved the Allied goals, but at a great price in military and civilian deaths.
