Operation Torch.
and Winston churchil
In 1914, at the start of World War I, Germany began its offensive action in the west, against neutral Belgium and arch-opponent France, while maintaining a defensive posture in the east. Their grand offensive plan in the west came close to success but was just barely averted by Allied defenders.
The US, USSR, and Great Britain were the "Big Three" and they led the Allied countries against the Axis countries led by Germany, Japan, and Italy. * When the war began it was Great Britain, France, and Poland allied against Germany alone.
Having won in the eastern theater, Germany began its offensive against France. It began in May of 1940.
It began as German offensive but ended with a successful allied counter attack which saw the Germany army pushed back
