It would be winter in both of these areas, as they lay south of the Equator.

Bar-tailed godwits typically breed during May and June. They establish their nests in the tundra regions of Alaska and Siberia, where they lay their eggs in early to mid-June. After breeding, they migrate to their wintering grounds in the southern hemisphere, primarily in New Zealand and Australia.
South America is in three hemispheres. South America is fully within the western hemisphere. It is mostly within the southern hemisphere and only the northern most part, north of the Amazon River, is in the northern hemisphere.
