Well apparently West Africa is not a country. You might have mistaken it for Western Sahara (disputed territory claimed by Morroco) or South Africa. So capital of Western Sahara is Laayoun aka El Aaiun. And then capitals of South Africa are Pretoria (executive), Bloemfontien (judical) or Cape Town (legislative). Glad to help, sorry if I didn´t.

No country was known as British East Africa.
Gabon was once part of French Equatorial Africa. It gained independence from France in 1960.
