one event was the industrial revolution
Famine :3
Many people who worked in the early clothing industry, both as inside cutters and contract seamstresses, were immigrants, primarily Irish in the 1840s and Germans in the 1850s.
The two largest immigrant groups during the 1800's were Ireland and Germany
Between 1845 and 1852, Ireland went through the Great Famine. Over a million people immigrated to the U.S. due to the mass starvation and diseases.

Europe and Asia
The major revolutions across Europe in the 1840s led to a massive increase in immigration to the US. Large waves of Germans, Irish, Swedes, French, Italians, etc. all made their way to the country.
Immigration was relatively small until the 1840s when it rose substantially. The volume passed 200,000 for the first time in 1847 and the period between 1847 and 1854 saw the highest rate of immigration in U.S. history.
It drew prospectors from Europe and the Americas, greatly increasing demand for supplies, support services and entertainments of all sorts, and this demand greatly stimulated the economy which had still been staggering from the 1840s depression.
