Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. They were angry at each other because Hamilton hurt Burr's reputation and had they had a longstanding political disagreement. Hamilton lost the duel, and died later that day.

John Trenchard and Thomas Gordon were the most famous Commonwealth men.
William Clark and nearly four dozen other men met up with Meriwether Lewis on May 20, 1804. This is when the "the Corps of Discovery" expedition began making its way up the Missouri River aboard a 55-foot-long keelboat and two smaller pirogues.
Andrew Jackson dueled with Charles Dickinson on May 30, 1806. The duel was fought in response to a personal dispute between the two men, resulting in Dickinson's death and Jackson being seriously wounded but surviving.
