When sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide reacts with rain water they produce sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively, such rains are called acid rains.
it mixes with clouds and creates acid rain
Sulpur Dioxide is the main chemical in acid rain. The Sulphur contained in coal, (which is burnt for industrial purposes) is released into the atmoshpere as Sulphur Dioxide. The Sulphur dioxide can be blown by the wind and reacts with water (clouds) to form Acid Rain.
Sulphur dioxide is released along-with similar other dangerous gases from the chimney of industries. These gases leach into the atmosphere and mix with air, dust, moisture to form huge black clouds. Thus, when the rain clouds get attracted to the sulphur containing clouds, acid rain occurs.
sulphur dioxide condenses in the clouds, then it falls with the rain. PH 4
It is due to the Fact the Venus´s atmosphere is 93 times more dense that that of the Earth and is made up of mostly Carbon Dioxide, with traces of nitrogen and sulphur dioxide. This high concentration of CO2 with thick clouds of sulphur dioxide make it the perfect greenhouse effect combination. Couple that with Venus´s closeness to the Sun and you have the hottest planet in the solar system.
Basically, fuels from factories, cars, lorries, etc. are released into the atmosphere and when clouds form, the sulphur dioxide gets dissolved into the clouds. The rain then becomes polluted with sulphuric acid and thus becomes acid rain.
Sulphur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxides are produced in countries like Germany, the UK and Poland, and the prevailing winds blow clouds of acid rain vapour over Sweden, where the sulphur acidifies the soil and stunts growth.
Power stations, factories and cars all burn fuels and they all produce gases. Some of these gases (especially nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide) react with the tiny droplets of water in clouds to form sulphuric and nitric acids. The rain from these clouds then falls as very weak acid - known as "acid rain".
To be quite honest, I do not have an answer. I was just trying to find the same answer for my science homework so if anyone knows the answer, please would you kindly answer it. It would be appreciated. Plus, it would keep me from receiving a detention. Thankyou...P.S. you spelt Sulphur wrong. You put sulfur, its spelt Sulphur.
Venus has an atmosphere of 96% carbon dioxide. It is also completely covered with clouds consisting of droplets of concentrated sulphuric acid. These cloud tops also show traces of sulphur dioxide, solid sulphur and chlorine. The surface temperature is 460oC (860oF).
the sulphur is a base in fossil fuels (in this case coal). when the coal burns the sulphur reacts with the oxygen in the air to produce sulphur dioxide which reacts with water vapour to form acid rain
