Collision Theroy
Everywhere, all the time. Almost everything you do causes or is reliant upon a chemical reaction. The reactions occur on the molecular level, caused by the collision of two molecules. There is a reaction if the kinetic energy of the collision is sufficient to break the molecules apart AND the molecules reconfigure into a different form afterwards.
A collision boundary is two plates colliding into each other creating a subduction zone. The heavier/slower plate dives 20-60 degrees down from the surface and the lighter/faster plate is crushed and forms folded mountains along the boundary.
When the collision is hard and fast enough. Increasing the kinetic energy will increase the likelihood of hard and fast collisions, which will ultimately increase the rate of the reaction. (This is called collision theory.)
The number of collisions with enough energy to react increases.
A Collision model is a model of the rate of a reaction showing how the rate is proportional to the number of collisions of reactant molecules.
Increasing the concentration increases the molecules' collision frequency.
Collision Theroy
Third order reactions imply reaction between three molecules, which implies collision between three molecules. From a probability standpoint this is much less likely than, say, a second-order reaction, where only two molecules must come together.
It increases the collisions that result in a reaction. or it increases the kinetic energy of the molecules.
The collision theory is when atoms, molecules or ions bash together or collide together. Collision theory states that the rate of a reaction may be increased by : increasing pressure; raising the amount of heat energy; raising the concentration of the reactant and by introducing a catalyst.
as temperature increase the rate of the reaction increase because ther is an increase in the kinetic energy causeing the molecules to move more rapidly cause a increase in collision.
Activation energy. Intermediary molecules (catalysts) required.
An active or activation site is a small opening in an enzyme where substrate molecules are bound, and go through a chemical reaction. This reaction is caused by the collision a substrate that slots into the active site of the enzyme.
It provides energy to overcome the activation energy.
The rate of the forward reaction will increase if the concentration of the reactants is increased. This is explained by collision theory. When there are more molecules in a given space (a higher concentration) with the same energy, the molecules will collide more frequently, since they will move about randomly and are more likely to hit one another if there are more of them around and less empty space. A reaction requires a collision, so more collisions in a given amount of time will lead to more molecules reacting in that time, giving a higher rate of reaction overall (in the forward direction).
In general, as temperature rises, so does reaction rate. This is because the rate of reaction is dependent on the collision of the reacting molecules or atoms. As temperature rises, molecules or atoms respond with increased motion, increasing the collision rate, thus increasing the reaction rate.
