Yes and no. No soldiers were ever sent to America by France, however, Bengiman Franklin convinced the french to give them money to aid them. Alternate answer: Yes. The French helped the American colonies with supplies as well as helping America economically at the beginning of the war. In 1778 the French signed the Treaty of Alliance which, among other things, openly declared France's support of the American colonies' quest for freedom from British rule. France did send troops to America to help. For example, in 1780 Rochambeau, who was the commander-in-chief of the French Expeditionary Forces, sent 6,000 soldiers to America to help the Americans in the war.
