In order to share a printer in a workgroup in a Windows based setting, you would need to install Client for Microsoft Networks. You would also need the File and Print Sharing component.

Several Computer nodes which are installed with any MS Windows OS and are connected with each other in peer (workgroup) or in domain model is called a Windows Network. Usually computers are connected in network with each other to utilize shared resources for maximum utilization. The most common shared resource which we can see is a printer.
Your problem is not the printer, the problem is availability of windows drivers for the printer. If you find appropriate windows drivers supporting the printer you should not have problems using your laptop with the printer*. *I have assumed that you have windows installed on your laptop.
Windows 7 is supposed to recognize the printer automatically. The printer is in the list of officially supported hardware.

No reason why not - provided you have the correct driver(s) for the hardware installed in Windows 8.
Install the appropriate drivers for your printer on the machine it will be connected to, connect and reboot as necessary. Then go to My Computer>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes. Find your printer you just installed, right click on it and select Sharing. Set a printer name of your choice and then click OK. On the other machines go back to Printers and Faxes then select the Add a New Printer... icon. On the following dialog choose to install a Network printer and then browse for your printer's name. Please note, all machines must be in the same Windows Workgroup, set by either running one of the Network wizards in My Network Places, or right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties then going to the Computer Name tab.
