I'd check with Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com).
They are essentially the best resource for replacement auto sound
equipment. They will know what will fit and what won't.

syncromesh transmission fluid
A 1996 Pontiac Sunfire uses Dexcool coolant. This should only be mixed with distilled water, never tap water. Replace the coolant every 2 years or as needed.
most any brake fluid which is DOT approved should be fine. Be sure to use a new, unopened container.
You need to convert the AC system to R-134a type freon first (retrofit kit). Then you charge it on the low pressure side.
I know that on a '96 the fuel filter is an in-line type near the fuel tank. As Pontiac hasn't really altered much on the Sunfire in over ten years, I'd suggest starting there.
Coolant is all pretty much the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. Check your owner's manual to find out the right mixture for your Sunfire
In the early to mid 90's all manufacturers were forced to convert to 134A
standard More: Judging from what is shown here: http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1995-to-2005-pontiac-sunfire-6.htm Either transmission type was available.
