Heaven The Catholic Church believes that those baptised in the Church and whose sins have been forgiven, go to heaven. This was once thought to be a place above the earth, but because of scientific advances is now seen as being a non-physical place. Heaven places the souls of the deceased in the company of God, in someway a peaceful and joyous eternal existence.
Hell
The Catholic Church believes that those who have committed a serious, or 'mortal' sin and have not received absolution, go to hell. Hell places the souls of the deceased out of communion with God, and in eternal torment. Hell was once seen as a place of fire and brimstone, with demons tormenting the souls, but this aspect is now downplayed. Absolution for one's sins can be obtained by confession to a priest.
Purgatory
The Catholic Church believes that those who have committed a less serious, or 'venial' sin and have not received absolution, go to purgatory. Purgatory seems to be similar in essence to hell, but is not permanent. The period in purgatory depends on how many sins the person committed, for which he did not receive absolution, and perhaps how serious they were.
Limbo
It was once felt unfair that the souls of babies should go to hell, just because they had not yet been baptised and were therefore, in Catholic belief, unable to go to heaven. Limbo became a place of peace, without torment, but also out of communion with God, as a temporary refuge for those in the Catholic faith who died before they could be baptised. It was felt that they would go to heaven at the time of the Last Judgement.
Limbo is now not an official part Catholic doctrine.
Ironically most Christians do not believe in after life. But this does not mean it does not exist. The christian believe is that after death, the person will remain in the grave till the second coming. But from experience we understand this is not true.
Ok, first Catholic IS Christian He is a Christian but he never stated what type.
pain and suffering
a catholic is a type of Christian
The Roman Catholic Church is a type of Christian Church.
They have christian and catholic.
He's a Christian, what type of christian I'm not sure of, but he's Italian, so I'm guessing roman catholic. most Italians are catholic. :)
Catholics are Christians. So any baby baptised in a Catholic Church is being baptised as a Christian. If you want your baby to be a Protestant, another type of Christian, then you would not have them baptised in a Catholic church.
They are Christian. Catholic to be specific.
Nope. He's Catholic nit christian. If you can see in many pictures and events he's wearing a rosarium. "He's catholic nit christian" my reply to that is catholic is a type/denomination of christian, therefore he is christian.
No. Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg, famous for inventing movable type (in the mid-1400s), was Christian.
No, I'm sorry to say they are not, they are Catholic, I am disapointed too by that, 'cause I am Christian...but you should accept their religious beliefes.actually im pretty sure they are not catholic considering their dad used to be a pastor. and in the catholic church they only have reverands. also i believe they are babtist but im not sure on that. and by the way catholic is a type of christian. their are many groups in the christian religion such as ; catholic, babtist, pentecost, lutherans and so on Ok, I'm a Catholic, and yes Catholics are Christians and we don't have reverands! That's the Jews that have those (i think) We have Priests and Ministors, so yeah I'm pretty sure they AREN'T Catholic.
I'm pretty sure that he is Catholic. I could be wrong, I'm about 98% sure! (:
