The Aztecs didn't do this, they built them in present-day Mexico. I did an assignment on this not long ago!:)

You mean the modern, Mexico City? Over 493 years, since 1521 until this day. If you mean how many years it took to rebuild Mexico City from the destruction inflicted by the Spanish conquistadors after defeating the Aztecs in 1521, it never actually "recovered"; the Spanish built several administrative buildings atop the ruins of Tenochtitlan over the following 30 or so years, slowly repopulating the city.
